The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Programs
at CBA have been in existence ever since the College’s inception in 1967. However,
the current curriculum has evolved over a period of time through a process of continuous
improvement in response to studies regularly conducted about the labor market needs
and expectations from CBA graduates. Each of the four year programs at CBA is designed
to provide a structured, systematic approach to understanding international, strategic,
political, economic, social, and cultural issues in the region, as well as
the world. They prepare graduates to assume responsibilities in a global business
environment characterized by the rapid technological and social changes.
The CBA Programs provide an educational experience
that enhances students’ analytical, conceptual, problem solving, and communication
skills. They also provide students with a broad base of knowledge topped with specialization
courses necessary for pursuing professional careers in a variety of private and
public organizations.
Coursework is exacting and the highest possible standards
are expected. Students are encouraged to read extensively, to think deeply, and
to discuss their ideas with faculty, as well as colleagues, and to be constatnly
aware of the practical policy applications of their work. The curricular requirements
for the Bachelor’s degree falls into two parts: lower division (first and second
years) and upper division (third and fourth years). In the first two years, all
students share a common curriculum designed primarily to provide a sound general
education in basic liberal arts subjects. In addition, students complete prerequisite
courses that form the foundation for upper division course work in business. In
the last two years, students devote most of their study to the concentration of
their choice.
CBA offers curricula leading to undergraduate Bachelor’s
degrees in Accounting, Economics, Marketing, Management, Finance, Management Science,
and Management Information Systems. In order to complete the degree in any of these
majors, students must meet specific requirements in general education (64 credit
hours), business core requirements (33 credit hours), major requirements (27 credit
hours), and support of major area (6 credit hours). Overall, students must complete
the requirements for graduation which is a minimum of 130 credit hours in total.
